The Parent Support Services (PSS) Program is a six month, time limited, educational program that provides in-home instruction for parents or soon-to-be parents in the areas of health and safety.
PSS is most ideal for new parents, individuals planning on having children in the near future, or parents at risk for DCFS involvement. Our parent trainers meet with clients in their home to perform skill and home assessments to ensure our clients learn the basics in first aid and safe practices in the home. The PSS Program follows an evidence-based curriculum that is designed for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Areas of instruction under the PSS Program are as follows:
- Developmental Stages
- Health Education
- Safety Education
- Overview of Parenting Philosophies & Parenting Styles
- Socio-Emotional Education
- Child Advocacy
